Seeking Information on Relatives or Places?
When people learn of Father Desbois’s work, they often want to know if his investigations have uncovered what happened to their family or friends, or to places where their ancestors lived.
Father Desbois’s office welcomes inquiries of this nature, and is committed to responding to all requests. Father Desbois has hired Pierre-Philippe Preux, whose job it is to research these queries.
If you are seeking information about specific people, please provide as much information as you can – not just their names, but also their jobs, where they worked, where they lived, and any other information you have. (The Ukrainian villagers who are interviewed were so young at the time that many don't remember people's names, but remember their occupations.) Please also provide any background information, such as when you last received news, or if you know any details of events. If there are any pictures that you can scan and e-mail, or make copies of and mail, that is also helpful. (Father Desbois’s office cannot return any materials that you mail in, so please DO NOT SEND ORIGINALS).
Pierre-Philippe always responds, but it sometimes takes a long time to investigate the questions (this is in part because he also travels frequently to the Ukraine). He notes, "We never promise to succeed, but we always promise to do the most we can."
